WORK Microwave... @ Africacom 2012 With... (SatBroadcasting™—DVB-S2)

[SatNews] WORK Microwave will exhibit—for the first time—in the Southern Africa region at...

...AfricaCom 2012 and will showcase a wide range of technology advancements at the show. Visitors to the WORK Microwave stand can view the company's modem portfolio, which includes a live demonstration of its leading IP-Modem SK-IP with its in-built OptiACM technology and an introduction to WORK Microwave's new DVB-S2 Modem SK-DV combined data and video modem. In addition, the company will showcase enhancements to its next-generation indoor and outdoor frequency converter series.

WORK Microwave will display its innovative new data and video modem designed to streamline an operator's signal transmission setup. Using DaVid technology, the DVB-S2 Modem SK-DV simultaneously transports data (network connection) and live broadcast (video content) over a single satellite carrier, aggregating multiple MPEG transport streams and IP data into a unified DVB-S2 multistream. Ideal for broadcasters, telcos, and satellite operators relying on a hybrid infrastructure that requires TS and IP interfaces, the DVB-S2 Modem SK-DV includes a powerful set of features, including Generic Stream Encapsulation, OptiACM, advanced modulation types up to 32APSK, and traffic shaping that maximize data throughput and bandwidth use while reducing operational and capital expenditures.

A live demo of the DVB-S2 IP-Modem SK-IP will help attendees learn more about the 16-channel ACM functionality (OptiACM) of the IP-Modem. The interactive test setup will demonstrate how the IP-Modem compensates for disturbances in the satellite link—due to physical conditions such as humidity and atmospheric precipitation—through real-time adaptation of transmission parameters according to link conditions. The demonstration will include two screens, enabling attendees to observe simulated conditions such as noise, data rate, and type of modulation and to witness the flipping over of the constellation diagram.

WORK Microwave will also highlight its recent partnership announcement with XipLink, a leading developer of wireless bandwidth optimization products. The first phase of the partnership will integrate WORK Microwave's DVB-S2 IP-Modem ACM functionality (OptiACM) with XipLink's traffic shaping QoS/TCP function into one environment. The integrated solution enables WORK Microwave to effectively eliminate the issues associated with traditional bandwidth allocation and introduce new configuration parameters and options that were not possible before. As a result, end-users can efficiently manage traffic policies and optimize bandwidth usage.

Additional information at the WORK Microwave booth will including the company's new five percent roll-off feature which enables operators to achieve as much as a 15 percent bandwidth gain in addition to the DVB-S2 standard as well demonstrate their nexgen Frequency Converter Series.
