ViaSat... Boon For Dismounted + Mobile Warfighters (SATCOM)

[SatNews] ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) will be exhibiting a new portable broadband terminal featuring...

...power-on, auto-acquire antenna pointing that greatly simplifies and speeds up deployment. Designated as the VMT-1220P, this lightweight terminal is targeted for military ground and maritime operations. The VMT-1220P is optimized for ViaSat’s worldwide broadband network, so mobile and dismounted warfighters can send and receive live full-motion video (FMV) over the horizon, make secure phone calls, and access classified networks worldwide. Service plans provide affordability through tiered levels of performance and connectivity.

The mechanical design includes a small 16x16x24-inch profile with a hardened radome and electronics base that eliminates the need for a separate carrying case. A lightweight ballistic bag is included for lifting, carrying, and shipping the system. The terminal is available for test and evaluation. “The military services have a variety of choices for portable satellite terminals, but the missing ingredient is the network,” said Larry Taylor, VP, ViaSat Alpha Innovations Team. “What we offer is unique: packaging and performance that is ready to go on a worldwide broadband network.”
