10th GVF Oil & Gas Communications Event – Takes It To The Clouds


[SatNews] With less than two weeks until the GVF Oil & Gas Communications South East Asia 2010: ‘Redefining the Digital Oilfield Onshore, Offshore, Deep & Ultra-Deepwater’ (O&GCSEA2010) conference. The meeting takes place on 23rd and 24th November at the Crowne Plaza Mutiara Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the conference organizers have announced that the topic of the interface between Cloud Computing and Satellite Communications will feature across the various GVF & EMP conference series.

Held in association with Schlumberger, Hughes, Intelsat, and Hermes Datacomms, and supported by the Asia Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC), the Kuala Lumpur conference has received record end-user attendee registrations from key international and regional players in the energy exploration and production (E&P) market, including both regular supporters of the South East Asia regional events within the global conference series, and first-time participants.

The O&GCSEA2010 program will include a session which will discuss Cloud Computing and Future Oil & Gas Industry Networking: The Satellite Communications Interface with Virtualization, Grid Computing & Service Oriented Architecture.

Martin Jarrold, GVF Chief of International Programme Development, and chairman of O&GCSEA2010, commented “This is a new topic element for the Oil & Gas Communications series, and one that clearly merits the attention of both communications solution providers and solution end-users in the energy sector. We anticipate a keen and growing interest in this topic in our future oil & gas programmes, in all regions of the global ‘oil & gas patch’.”
