(Nasdaq:KTOS) has announced that its SAT Corporation subsidiary has provided a global satellite operator with Carrier Identification (CID) technology for its ground network to help identify and mitigate RF interference that can disrupt radio frequency (RF) communications.

The capabilities helped the operator better assure service performance in time for the increased global broadcast demands surrounding the World Cup in Brazil. RF signal interference is a growing problem in the satellite industry, particularly the kind of inadvertent, non-malicious interference that is increasing with the worldwide proliferation of satellite devices and services. CID is embedded into a video or data transmission path that enables satellite operators and end users to identify the source of an interfering carrier, thus speeding cross-verification between operators and dramatically reducing the time to resolve accidental events.

SAT employs a powerful approach to CID in its Monics® product, the industry's leading carrier monitoring system, using Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) spread spectrum modulation, differential encoding, scrambling and a concatenated error protection strategy to quickly and accurately help operators detect, identify and correct the problem. To assist with the less common but more troubling forms of intentional interference, such as malicious jamming, SAT's satID(R) product helps operators locate the geographic position of the offending signal so that corrective actions can be taken.
