Agilent To Bring Data Conversion Technologies To Warfighter Programs

Agilent Technologies logo Agilent Technologies will deliver unique data-conversion capabilities and associated intellectual property to key U.S. and allied armed forces programs.

This technology, which has been developed through years of internally funded research and development in RF and microwave test instrumentation and components, will provide an immediate and dramatic impact on war-fighter effectiveness, efficiency, and safety. Implementations focus on MOSA (Modular Open Systems Approach), COTS (commercial off the shelf) module development with the introduction of VME/VXS modules configurable with a variety of wideband A/D, D/A conversion and signal processing capabilities. The initial products cover a wide dynamic range and instantaneous bandwidth. This Agilent initiative will benefit those charged with closing the gaps in emerging threats through technology insertion or refreshment of fielded Electronic Support (ES), Electronic Attack (EA) and Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) systems, the majority of which are based on the ubiquitous VME architecture. Longer emitter identification standoff ranges, more precise direction finding in dense emitter environments, and shorter defensive engagement cycles are possible with relatively low incremental development cost. Wideband radar and intelligence-gathering systems are also expected to benefit, with better clutter rejection, range and target differentiation now attainable without massive reinvestment.
