PolarSat... A Fitting Course Of Events (SATCOM)

[SatNews] PolarSat Inc. has successfully completed VSATPlus 3 system delivery and training for a major US-based technology consulting firm.

The VSATPlus 3 network will be used for testing and evaluation of various C3I applications for a US government agency. The full mesh VSATPlus 3 IP modem has been installed and application testing and end user training has begun. The VSATPlus 3 satellite communications network enables direct connectivity between all Command and Control network elements without requiring a central hub or central network controller. This gives an enhanced level of robustness by not having a single point of failure in the network along with the added benefit of a low cost implementation. Bandwidth is dynamically allocated automatically on demand to lower the overall required satellite bandwidth while supporting different types of IP traffic. The Quality of Service (QoS) capability of the VSATPlus 3 terminal supports the integration testing of various C3I application performances along with a host of standard IP based applications. The QoS allows the customer to establish different priorities for various different types of traffic or in combination with the applications IP address. The test bed highlights the ease of use of providing a Multi-Service IP infrastructure for beyond line of sight communications that can be deployed world wide quickly and easily.
