Skycasters... Focus On Final Four...

Fans at this weekend’s Final Four NCAA playoffs in Indianapolis, Indiana, have been under the watchful eye of the many, behind the scenes safety personnel, including the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Skycasters’ satellite broadband Internet service will provide IDHS’ connection assistance.

For the second time in four years, the Final Four returns to Indianapolis, and with about 70,000 fans filling the Lucas Oil Stadium and tens of thousands of event goers from across the U.S. joining in the party, security will be a key component to ensuring everything runs smoothly. A primary tool in its communications arsenal, IDHS uses an autopointing vehicle-mounted dish, serviced with a committed information rate of 2 megs down and 768 kilobytes up, and up-to speeds of 6 megs down and 1.5 megs up. “They really want to provide unobtrusive yet thorough security presence,” said Skycaster’s Senior Account Executive, Richard McKinney. “They’ll do that nicely by using satellite to combine video surveillance with voice communications.”
