SeaSpace Receives Int'l Trade Award


The San Diego and Imperial District Export Council announces that the 2009 Bill Ivans International Trade Award will be presented to SeaSpace Corporation of Poway, California — its President, Hyong Ossi, will receive the award on behalf of SeaSpace today at the San Diego World Trade Center’s Fifth Annual Global Logistics Symposium.

Hyong Ossi Sea Space Award photo The San Diego and Imperial District Export Council established the Award in 2000 in memory of Bill Ivans, founder of San Diego based Cohu, who for many years was a tireless advocate for San Diego’s prominent place in global trade. Richard Forsyth, Chairman of the San Diego and Imperial District Export Council, said, “The Bill Ivans International Trade Award recognizes a company that has recently excelled in exporting, and has used the products and services of the U.S. Department of Commerce to attain significant growth. SeaSpace Corporation’s success in the international market place is a strong statement about the quality of its products and management and its use of the many important resources available from the U.S. Department of Commerce”.

SeaSpace Corporation of Poway, California manufactures remote sensing satellite ground stations (TeraScan hardware and software products) that provide weather and environmental information for use primarily by government meteorological entities. With sales in more than 30 countries, SeaSpace has tapped U.S. Commercial Service support for their continued international sales expansion since 2004. SeaSpace has successfully used U.S. Commercial Service export promotion support including: advocacy assistance to secure a Chilean government contract, the Gold Key service to find a distributor in Vietnam and generate sales to the Vietnamese Government, as well as export counseling and export controls training on various international transactions including on a recent sale in Turkey.
