Delve Into ND SatComs' Newbies

ND SatCom will be introducing at IBC 2008 in Amsterdam a new Antenna Control Unit (ACU) generation. The ACU 5010 for SkyRAY Light is to be exhibited at ND SatCom’s outdoor booth OE320 from September 12-16, 2008. The new ACU generation contains three major components for ND SatCom’s system solutions: for fixed ground stations, mobile uplinks based on the company’s SkyRAY Compact / MAS antenna subsystems, and SkyRAY Light systems for IP-based contribution. All of ND SatCom’s Antenna Pointing System (APS) functionalities are integrated into the 2RU ACU components. As ND SatCom’s core components for customer networks and applications are developed and manufactured inhouse, they are precisely tailored to the company’s satcom solutions.

ND SatCom RCU 5000 Also being introduced at IBC 2008 by ND SatCom is an advanced version of its RCU 5000 (Redundancy Control Unit), which supports redundant VSAT as well as redundant mobile and fixed uplink station configurations for broadcast applications. The 2RU component is designed for controlling the entire uplink chain, including modulator, upconverter, and high power amplifiers. The redundancy controller contains RF inhibit functionality and manages up to 3:1 redundant transmit chains: as many as four ND SatCom High Power Amplifiers (HPA) and three waveguide/coax switches can be controlled either manually, automatically or by web interface. Main functions are accessible by self-explaining buttons. A color display with animated block diagrams makes the RCU 5000 easy to operate with minimal technical training.
