Comtech EF Data... Lovin' That LPOD (SatCom)

[SatNews] This contract with the U.S. government brings new equipment into an earth station environment...

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced that their Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $1.2 million satellite earth station equipment order from a leading solutions provider which will be deployed by the U.S. government to power a satellite-based communications network. Comtech EF Data's LPOD and associated accessories were specified in the order. The LPOD, designed with an efficient thermal and mechanical package, is compact in size and weight which makes it ideally suited to installations with limited mounting space, such as ship borne antenna systems, small "flyaway" systems, and satellite news gathering installations. The LPOD eliminates the requirement for the modem to supply a DC power source and 10 MHz reference to the BUCs and LNBs, which facilitates multi-carrier and redundant L-band operation. The LPOD also includes built-in data logging enabling critical parameters to be recorded at time stamped intervals.
