NAB: Defrosting The World The W B Walton Way

W B Walton antennas with Snow Shield More than 30 years ago, the De-Icing system for antennas was invented by Bill Walton — these systems are still installed and maintained by W B Walton as the Company continues to De-Ice the world.

These systems have been installed in virtually all cold weather climate areas and they can be can be heated with either electric, natural, or propane gas. The systems range in size from 3m to 32m.

These systems can also be passive or actively heated with electricity or gas and, in some cases, a blower is added to inflate the Snow Shield.

A brand new product from W B Walton is Ice Quake, which is a cost saving addition to the Snow Shield product line as the product saves electricity costs. Rather than heating the air beneath the Snow Shield, the Snow Shield actually vibrates to remove ice, snow, or rain. Over the past several months, numerous test have been conducted to prove the viability of the Ice Quake for Ku- and Ka-band antennas. The tests were conducted on a 4.2m Ku-band and a .98m at for both Ku- and Ka-band antennas. All of these products will be on display at NAB at outdoor Booth OE423.
