AvioNews is reporting that BAE Systems will fly its Mantis UAV later this month. The exact date is still not known for the flight.This news was revealed by Managing Director of Military Air Solutions at
BAE Systems,
Kevin Taylor, speaking at the
RAF Air Power conference this week. This twin-engined, medium-altitude, long-endurance UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), first unveiled at the International "Farnborough Air Show" last year, has been under construction at the BAE facility at Warton in Lancashire, U.K., since late last year. Mr. Taylor said he could not provide an exact first flight date as such depended on range slots at the flight test center at
Woomera, South Australia.
