SES... Capacity For Caster + Moving On Up (SatBroadcasting™—Capacity) + (Business)


[SatNews] SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) and Castor Networks have announced that the Dutch provider...

...of teleport, VSAT and broadcasting services has signed a capacity expansion agreement on SESNSS-7 satellite to meet the growing needs for connectivity throughout Southern Africa. Castor Networks will use the new capacity to enable the delivery of voice and data across corporate networks of oil & gas and mining industries, ISPs and governments in countries such as Angola, Mozambique and South Africa.

At 340 degrees East, NSS-7’s newly-configured South Africa Ku-band beam is well-positioned to support VSAT hubs in Europe that are expanding into remote areas in Southern Africa.

Additionally, SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) has also announced a newly created position and an appointment...

...Gerry Oberst will join SES in the position of Senior Vice President, Global Regulatory and Governmental Strategy.

In this newly-created position, Gerry will have responsibility for overseeing the regulatory and advocacy work of SES. He will report to John Purvis, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and will be based in Luxembourg initially, and then in Washington, D.C.

He will take up his new position on October 1, 2012. Gerry brings three decades of professional experience advising the satellite communications industry and most recently was a partner in the law firm Hogan Lovells. He started his career in Washington, D.C. and moved to Brussels in 1991 to help open a new European office for the firm, specializing in the field of international regulation of communications services.

During his career he has worked with and advised a host of major telecommunications clients in their dealings with the International Telecommunications Union, the European Commission and EU Member States, as well as some emerging market administrations. Gerry is a member of the International Institute of Space Law.
