Orbit Logic + MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates—Welcoming WorldView-3 Component (Imagery)

[SatNews] Orbit Logic now has a contract award from MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) to add DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-3 super-spectral, high-resolution imaging satellite into its Direct Access Facility Collection Planning System (DAF CPS) software.

The updated planning software will allow DigitalGlobe’s international Direct Access Program partners to task and receive imagery from WorldView-3, planned for launch in mid-August, in addition to the GeoEye-1, WorldView-1, and WorldView-2 satellites that are in service today.  Orbit Logic has supplied the collection planning software component for MDA’s Direct Access Facility since the inception of the program in 2006.

“Orbit Logic has provided planning software for the Direct Access Program for several years now, and we look forward to providing this next-generation capability for DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-3 satellite, which will deliver improved image collection capacity, resolution, and spectral diversity for government customers,”said Alex Herz, president of Orbit Logic.

Proven over several years of commercial imaging satellite operations, Orbit Logic’s collection planning software performs high-fidelity satellite modeling and imagery collection planning, as well as contact scheduling, order tracking, recorder management and downlink planning.  Orbit Logic’s planning software solution for DAF CPS provides advanced planning algorithms, user-friendly GUIs, and detailed 2D and 3D maps to support the planning process and enhance operator situational awareness.

DigitalGlobe's Direct Access Program establishes trusted partnerships with select defense, intelligence and commercial customers to provide priority access to DigitalGlobe's constellation of high-resolution earth observation satellites. The program gives customers the ability to integrate DigitalGlobe satellites with their existing resources without the cost associated with direct satellite ownership.
