Harmonic... QAM Quotient + (Hardware)

[SatBroadcasting(tm)] Cable television operator Armstrong has expanded its video-on-demand (VOD) service in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland with Harmonic’s Narrowcast Services Gateway(tm) (NSG) 9000 universal edgeQAM featuring Privacy Mode edge encryption. The deployment of the NSG 9000 also provides Armstrong with the highest level of security, as well as the capacity to increase its HD channel offerings in the future. “VOD is an important and growing service and it is critical that we are able to support more and more users in a scalable, secure and highly reliable manner,” said Michael Giobbi, CTO at Armstrong. “Additionally, with the NSG 9000’s unparalleled output density, we can continue to expand our HD channel offerings in the future while maintaining exceptional video quality.” Harmonic leads the industry in edgeQAM deployments with more than one million QAMs shipped to cable service providers worldwide. Harmonic’s edgeQAM technology powers video-on-demand (VOD), broadcast, switched digital video (SDV), modular cable modem termination system (M-CMTS) and cable IPTV services that serve more than 50 million cable TV subscribers around the world.
