OHB To Offer Speakers + Product Displays During Space Tech Expo Europe

[Satnews] Established in America, Space Tech Expo has now ventured across to Europe, where it will occur place on November 17 - 19 at Fair Hall 5 in Bremen—OHB will be present at the congress with numerous speakers and presenters as well as two stands.

Space Tech Expo & Conference Europe is the market place for design, production and testing activities for space vehicles, satellites and launch vehicles as well as related technologies in the European and Transatlantic space industry.

Bremen-based space technology group OHB SE will be holding lectures and presentations in the “Industry” and “Technology” segments. A model of the Galileo satellite will be suspended over OHB SE’s stand (Hall 5, Stand H21). The EU Commission/ESA has awarded OHB a contract for the delivery of 22 of these navigation satellites. Some of them are already in orbit and they have all been able to prove their full functional capability.

Also on display will be smaller models of the SmallGEO telecommunications satellite family developed by OHB as well as the Ariane launch vehicles. OHB subsidiary MT Aerospace AG supplies an extensive array of hardware for the Ariane 5. As well as this, OHB will be presenting electronic equipment for camera systems for use in space – either on board a launch vehicle or a satellite. 3D-printed prototypes of measurement systems will also be featured. These electrical and fiber-optic systems are used for collecting data and measuring temperatures on board satellites and, in the future, also in optical clocks. OHB’s Bavaria-based electronic manufacturing is offering its services. For decades it has been specializing in space applications.

“Invigorating tired congress visitors” is the motto of the second OHB stand (Hall 5, E31). Here, congress participants will have an opportunity of working out like a real astronaut on a training model of the “fly wheel”, which was developed as an exercise device for astronauts in the Columbus module.

Renowned personalities such as Bremen senator Martin Günthner, the space agency managers Prof. Dr. Ehrenfreund (DLR) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wörner (ESA) as well as the head of the Space Foundation, Elliot Pulham, have agreed to hold keynote speeches at the debut of the congress in Europe. Guy Perez, Chief Technology Officer at OHB System AG, will be taking part in two panel discussions. OHB experts will be showcasing some of the company’s space projects in brief presentations. They will be supplemented with lectures by OHB representatives on the core procurement and technology management segments.

Executive Comment

As a systems expert, it is of importance for OHB to keep abreast of the latest technological advances. We want to know what is technically possible. This applies to both our present and potential further components suppliers. And that is precisely why we are here,” said Dr. Fritz Merkle, a member of OHB SE’s Management Board, who will be specifically addressing this aspect in his key note speech during the opening ceremony.
