Following Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the AVIATOR 700D was recently certified for use aboard all aircraft, enabling Thrane & Thrane to commence shipment of the product worldwide. The AVIATOR 700D provides both Inmarsat Classic and SwiftBroadband services in one package. The system supports a wide range of communications applications in both the cockpit and cabin including in-flight WiFi and voice calling and is also fully FANS 1/A and CPDLC compliant. By satisfying forthcoming mandates for future air navigation, the integration of the new Level-D software and hardware offers a straightforward upgrade for existing Level-E AVIATOR 700 and Aero-HSD+ systems, making it a cost effective option for retrofit customers seeking to update their systems in-line with FANS and CPDLC.
The AVIATOR 700D joins Thrane & Thrane’s portfolio of innovative SwiftBroadband solutions, consisting of the AVIATOR 200, 300, 350 and 700, which support a range of advanced applications including cockpit voice dialling, in-flight calling and internet browsing.
The Company is also introducing the new Inmarsat Multi-Voice service across its entire AVIATOR SwiftBroadband range.
As part of the service upgrade, Thrane & Thrane’s AVIATOR systems will support several simultaneous voice calls via SwiftBroadband, enabling more users to benefit from high quality and cost effective calling during the flight. The new Multi-Voice service is compatible with Thrane & Thrane’s AVIATOR Wireless Handset, which features best-in-class noise and echo cancellation capabilities to ensure excellent voice calling clarity. Passengers and crew can also use their own Wi-Fi enabled smartphones to access SwiftBroadband voice calling on AVIATOR. With Inmarsat Multi-Voice, each handset can benefit from having its own number, making it straightforward to dial into a specific handset from the outside. It is of course also possible to dial out from any handset in the aircraft.
SwiftBroadband Multi-Voice is made possible by an update of the current AVIATOR firmware, so no new internal hardware is required to activate the service. The Multi-Voice capability will be available on all new system installations from Q3 2012, while existing AVIATOR users can take advantage of an upgrade to the new service.
