Gilat Satellite Networks... PIASS Participation + The Digital Divide... (Webinar)

[SatNews] Join Gilat on Wednesday, July 17th, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, for a free Webinar entitled “Bridging the Digital Divide with Satellite Communications.”

An example as to how the digital divide may be bridged: On Saturday June 8th, President Ollanta Humala of Peru launched the “PIASS” program, whereby a ship will travel from village to village to cater for the basic needs of more than 7,000 people in 30 communities on the Napo River. The ship’s mission is to travel along the rivers of the Amazon to deliver government-provided medical, educational and banking services to isolated populations. The ship provides services including banking and ATM, medical and dental treatments, and government services including Ministry of the Interior facilities.

Gilat is proud to have participated in the launch of the platform, providing the satellite communication infrastructure to enable these services. In fact, the launch included a “telemedicine” demonstration using the satellite network that enables the ship to consult with other countries and other areas in Peru. To learn more about how satellite can be used to provide education, healthcare and other socio-economic services even in the most remote or outlying areas, join in for the free live Webinar on July 17, 2013 from 11am EDT entitled “Bridging the Digital Divide with Satellite Communications.” The webinar will assist in understanding how satellite can be used to provide education, healthcare and other socio-economic services even in the most remote or outlying areas. It will use real world examples to illustrate the benefits and success achieved in these areas. The webinar will focus on the following areas:

  • Government social justice programs for bridging the Digital Divide
  • Opportunities for eLearning, eHealth and eBanking programs
  • Implementation of first response and disaster relief systems

This webinar is a must see for satellite service providers, government officials, eLearning and eHealth professionals and first response specialists.
