Tecore Networks—Rapid Response Tactical Platform (Comms)

[SatNews] Tecore Networks will be showcasing its RAVEN™ Platform, a tactical solution delivering macro 3G/4G wireless service for rapidly deployable communications.

The showcase will be conducted at the upcoming TechNet Augusta Conference, which will be held September 10-12, 2013, at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center in Augusta, Georgia. The RAVEN leverages a size optimized all-IP based architecture, delivering the most compact, adaptable, and cost-effective rapid response tactical platform. The highly portable mobile platform is small enough to qualify as carry-on luggage on most airlines.

Each RAVEN system provides voice, text, MMS, and megabit Internet services for local users as a standalone system or as part of a larger communications network. When networked together, users have secured access to other RAVEN locations.

“As the military continues to shift greater resources to CONUS as part of its 2020 vision, the RAVEN presents an ideal solution for a wide array of emerging challenges to both security and efficiency while also offering a number of unique capabilities to those operating at the tactical edge,” said Jay Salkini, President and CEO of Tecore. “As the Army continues its effort to integrate and secure its diverse array of distinct networks it is essential that commanders work with U.S. companies to field agile solutions that can interface with 2G, 3G, and 4G environments seamlessly, while affording 100 percent end-to-end network security—the TechNet conference is the ideal forum to do this.”

The recent focus on establishing a Bring Your Own Device “BYOD” environment within the government and military coupled with an increase need for secure CONUS communications, has shined a light on the risks of cyber-attacks as well as the importance of information assurance. With the RAVEN, BYOD is simplified and secured by allowing users to “Bring Your Own Network” (BYON) as well. With control of the wireless network and device, secured communications can extend out to the first tactical mile, avoiding the risk of traversing unsecured networks. Enabling multiple levels of encrypted communications, the RAVEN supports integrated security enclaves that can be controlled locally or from the cloud.

The RAVEN offers multiple backhaul connectivity options to securely connect between several locations. The integrated 3G/4G WWAN allows systems to interlink connectivity and coverage at distances up to 10km apart. Optionally the units can be integrated with an external microwave or VSAT for the establishment of remote IP connectivity. Additionally the RAVEN leverages its integrated SON (Self Organizing Network) capabilities to select the most appropriate channel for operation based on the surrounding RF environment.

This Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) capability operates as an integrated feature of the platform supporting rapid deployments without local RF expertise. The robust capability set, compact form factor and cost-effectiveness of the RAVEN enable a broad range of deployment scenarios for tactical deployment, government, emergency management, armed forces or humanitarian peacekeeping missions.
