International Communications Group... Getting Flighty + AQP'd With ARINC (SATCOM)

ICG's Datalink-100 infosheet here.
[SatNews] International Communications Group’s (ICG’s) new Datalink-100 satellite based Flight Deck Data Unit has successfully completed ARINC’s Avionics Qualification Program (AQP) testing.

In order to be validated and qualified to send Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) and other Datalink messages over its network, ARINC requires communications devices and systems to pass its AQP test and compliance procedures. “Based upon the review of the documentation suite and the favorable uplink success test results of the ICG DL-100, the DataLink-100 SDU is considered AQP-approved for use on the ARINC’ GLOBALink data network,” wrote Stephen R. Ledger, ARINC’s Director of AQP Services in his letter granting the approval.

In addition to the successful completion of the ARINC AQP program, the DL-100 device was also certified by Iridium LLC for operation over the Iridium satellite constellation and network. The DL-100 joins other successful ICG flight deck products, the ICS-120A Iridium system, a single channel voice with dedicated Datalink channel, and the ICS- 220A, a dual-channel voice and dedicated Datalink channel device, which had previously received ARINC AQP approvals.

ICG’s Datalink-100 (DL-100) is a multi-function data gateway device that provides bidirectional messaging over the global Iridium Satellite Network via a Short Burst Data (SBD) transceiver. Designed to send and receive Air Traffic System (ATS) and Air Operations Center (AOC) data messages. The DL-100 provides connections to aircraft Data Management Unit/ Communications Management Unit (DMU/CMU) devices via ARINC 429 circuits, permitting the sending and receiving of traditional ACARS messages as well as supporting Controller Pilot Datalink Communications (CPDLC), ADS-C and other Future Air Navigation System (FANS)1/A Messaging requirements.) The Datalink-100 has an internal Global Positioning System (GPS) option that can be used to support asset tracking, automatic or event driven position reporting or other requirements where positioning information is required. It is the least expensive global communications device available in the industry today. The DL-100 supports the RCP- 240 communications requirements and can therefore be installed as the primary communications device for FANS1/A compliance or as an alternate to HFDL (High Frequency Datalink), Inmarsat Datalink, or can be used as an inexpensive means of communications for other services. Its small compact size and light weight permit installation on any size aircraft.
