Stolt Signs On Stratos
Stratos Global Corporation has been selected by Stolt Tankers B.V. (Stolt) to provide a fleetwide, high-speed satellite-based communications network.
Stolt Tankers is a subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen S.A., one of the world's leading providers of integrated maritime transportation services. The Stratos network will serve Stolt's 75-ship fleet of tanker ships with services that include: Inmarsat B, C and Fleet; and Iridium crew calling. The network is custom-designed for Stolt to help increase the performance and efficiency of a wide variety of business-critical applications, including crew communications to support the recruitment and retention of well-trained seafarers. Stolt selected Stratos as its network provider based primarily on the wide range of value-added services that Stratos offers. Those field-tested services, known as The Stratos Advantage, help ship managers attain the highest possible performance and support from their mobile satellite services, at the lowest possible cost. The application that Stolt found most appealing was StratosAccess, which provides online traffic monitoring and alarms to indicate usage thresholds. Stratos offers a wide range of value-added services to provide ship managers with optimal communications performance, management control and cost efficiency. Stratos provides mobile satellite services to the maritime industry, with communications to more than 40,000 maritime terminals worldwide.
