[SatNews] Newtec has announced a major milestone after delivering more than 110,000 units of its IP satellite modems for the SES Broadband Services (SBBS) network in Ku- and Ka-band.
Newtec has been working closely with SBBS in Europe, the Middle East and Africa since it launched the Astra Connect (former Astra2Connect) service in 2007. The company continues to supply hubs and terminals for SBBS and recently helped to extend coverage of the 20Mbps Ka-band service to cover more of Europe, especially Germany and France, using the new ASTRA 2E and 2F satellites.
Newtec‘s low-cost, Ka-band MDM2200 IP Satellite Modem includes DVB-S2 Adaptive Coding Modulation (ACM), Adaptive Return Link with 4CPM modulation and IP traffic enhancement software for TCP acceleration. The modem also features a unique Point&Play® installation technology to make self-installation and start-up a simple task that can be done by the consumer.
“For nearly three decades, Newtec has been creating high spec and affordable satellite equipment for use all over the world. SES and Newtec have worked together on many projects during that time and we are very proud of our accomplishments together. The objective for both companies is to provide the best service without compromise whilst taking advantage of the latest developments in research and development,” said Serge Van Herck, the CEO of Newtec.
