To qualify, companies must be U.S. based and privately held, independent (not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies), and have had at least $100,000 in revenue in 2006 and $2 million in 2009. Over this three-year period RigNet's revenue grew by 177 percent, earning RigNet a ranking of No. 42 in the energy industry category of the Inc. 500/5000 and a ranking of No. 37 among companies headquartered in the greater Houston metropolitan area. RigNet has made the Inc. 500|5000 four times in the past five years. In 2009, RigNet ranked No. 452 on the Inc. 500 list. In 2008, RigNet ranked No. 317 overall on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in America, and in 2008 ranked No. 12 among the top 100 energy companies. In 2006, RigNet ranked No. 274 on the Inc. 500 list.
