MILCOM 2010... A Technology Leaders Board (Event)

[SatNews] Leaders from Hewlett Packard (HP), Dreamworks, Armorize and eBay will discuss innovations in technology that will take us beyond social media, mobile devices, and pervasive connectivity in military communications on Wednesday morning, November 3rd, at MILCOM 2010.

Russ Daniels and Bernardo Huberman, HP; Ed Leonard, Dreamworks; Caleb Sima, Armorize; and Steve Yankovich, eBay, will discuss technology trends in the consumer industry and how they will impact military and national security forces in facilitating collaboration between people and organizations. They’ll discuss evolution of computing platforms, cloud computing, defense against malicious network and information collection attacks, user/machine interactions, machine-to-machine interaction, integration across various communications media, and management of the information explosion. MILCOM 2010 will take place at the San José Convention Center from October 31 to November 3. Lockheed Martin and The Aerospace Corporation are serving as corporate hosts in coordination with conference co-sponsors, the Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Communications Society. Now in its 29th year, MILCOM is one of the largest government/industry conferences in the world, and the premier technical communications, networking and information-sharing event of its kind. More than 5,000 people from 30 countries are expected to attend this annual gathering, which draws professionals from government, scientific, academic and engineering communities, contractors, allies, and top international educational institutions.

There are featured speakers representing national and international government and research, three executive panels and 24 technical panels covering topics such as advances in information technology, military satellite communications, radio waveforms and cyber security. There are also in-depth tutorials addressing commercial wireless networking, cyber security and virtual wargames, digital video broadcasting, quantum communications, and coding and transport of motion imagery data. Panels and tutorials are offered for unclassified and classified audiences. Over 400 papers are scheduled to be presented at this year’s conference. There are other special events and tours available for families including golf and tours of Monterey/Carmel and San Francisco. The showcase event is Monday night at The Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose’s popular hands-on science and exploration museum.
