Optus... Mobile Encoding Energies (SatBroadcasting™)

[SatNews] Optus has selected and installed MComms Transcode to manage the encoding for all of its live Mobile TV service, helping Optus bring new and exciting live streaming and mobile broadcasting options to its customer base. MComms Transcode converts live video streams from the Internet, IPTV and analog/digital feeds into compatible Mobile TV video streams.

A stream can be output simultaneously in multiple formats for iPhone and video enabled 3G handsets. Output formats include H.263, H.264, MPEG and Windows Media. All Optus live Mobile TV services use MComms Transcode to simultaneously encode the live channels to multiple output formats including iPhone and all 3G phones that support streaming. PMN, and Visionbytes / Akamai, will also provide the hosting of channels on their streaming servers, providing Optus mobile subscribers with the video feeds.
