Sapura Group Shows Off UAVs


Cyber Technology homepage Sapura Group will pitch its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in Asia, Europe,and the United States. Group president and chief executive officer Datuk Shahril Shamsuddin said the company would "aggressively" open new markets in those regions to take advantage of a global market for UAVs that was estimated to hit close to RM47.3 billion over the next 10 years.

"We have UAV test products in the U.S. and Europe, including in Britain." Sapura has also sold several UAVs in Thailand and to "a certain party" in Australia, where the UAVs were developed. The aircraft, which are used for reconnaissance and surveillance in various sectors including military, maritime and oil and gas, were developed by Cyber Technology, the group's Perth-based subsidiary. Sapura currently has four UAV models and is developing several new designs which should roll out within two years.
