Latvia Joins In With EUMETSAT As A Member State

Jason-2 satellite (EUMETSAT) Latvia has completed the ratification process to become a full Member State in EUMETSAT and has informed the Depository of the EUMETSAT Convention.

Once the Depository sends official notification to EUMETSAT, the procedures for Latvia becoming a EUMETSAT Member State will be complete. Latvia is the fifth Cooperating State to become a full member, after Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Hungary. As a Member State, Latvia will participate fully in EUMETSAT’s decision-making process and its industry will be able to bid for contracts, in addition to maintaining the unlimited access to all EUMETSAT data and products for official duty use it has enjoyed since becoming a Cooperating State. Latvia will participate in all EUMETSAT mandatory programmes as well as the Jason-2 optional programme. With the accession of Latvia, EUMETSAT now numbers 23 full Member States and seven Cooperating States.
