"This milestone demonstrates our ability to meet the growing demand for broadband satellite services that host a variety of upstream applications," said John Prentice, Stratos Senior Vice President, Broadband Services. "Our long history of service proves that we are meeting the changing SCADA requirements of the upstream and utility markets, including the need to manage IP traffic."
Prentice added that DataSat II from Stratos is an excellent example of a new service developed in response to evolving customer needs. Introduced in January, DataSat II is Stratos' most recent application-centric SCADA VSAT solution.
Based on Gilat's high-performance SkyEdge VSAT platform, it offers TCP acceleration, VPN, QoS, high inbound data rates, improved access scheme and modulations to maximize the performance of IP or serial-based SCADA, remote monitoring and intranet applications. It also is positioned to support VoIP applications.
DataSat II from Stratos supports applications for data collection and monitoring of remote assets - including utility substations and oil or gas pipelines.
