the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to assist with the design and launch of this nation's very first satellite. The total cost of the satellite ranges up into the $150 million price range. One reason for the decision to build a new satellite is that Bangladesh currently allocates $11 million per year in rental fees for services from foreign satellites. The satellite, to be named Bangabandhu-1, is expected to be launched in 2015.
