...MILCOM 2012 Conference, held from October 20th through November 1st at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida. The papers are featured in the technical program track and were chosen from a panel of distinguished thought leaders in government, academia, the military and the private sector.

  • Channel Coding: Scrambled Code Multiple Access (SCMA) Waveform for Micro Satellite Terminals
    • Tuesday, October 30: 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Lin-Nan Lee, PhD, vice president, Advanced Development, Engineering Division, will present a novel waveform based on very low-rate coding and a variety of new SCMA techniques, enabling multiple users to share bandwidth efficiently by using specific scramblers in separate timeslots. This new waveform is well suited for small antenna micro satellite terminals, which are often utilized in tactical communications-on-the-move (COTM), asset tracking, sensor networking and smart grid technologies

  • Satellite Communications: High Capacity Ka Commercial Communications Satellite Architectures for Defense Applications
    • Wednesday, October 31: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Rajeev Gopal, PhD, senior director of Advanced Programs in the Defense and Intelligence Systems Division (DISD), will present analysis of multiple, high-capacity Ka-band satellite designs, including the recently launched EchoStar XVII satellite with JUPITER™ high throughput technology. He will discuss utilization of Ka-band satellite architectures in resilient communications to enhance national security

Additionally, Hughes will showcase key technologies for the defense and intelligence communities in Booth 1319, including its 9202 portable Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) terminal, and wideband Ka-/Ku-band on-the-move broadband satellite solutions employing its FIPS-certified HX280 router. The booth will also feature recent Hughes advancements in airborne communications.
