With HDTV support, an integrated CI+ interface, and digital add-on services, the TechniStar S1 provides maximum functional range and user comfort. In addition to unencrypted standard and HDTV programs via different orbital positions, the TechniStar S1 is also perfectly equipped for the reception of numerous encrypted programs. With a smartcard reader for the integrated CONAX decryption system and a Common Interface in the newest CI+ generation for expansion with additional decryption systems, the TechniStar S1 is the perfect partner for TV reception via satellite. With TechniSat's TechniCrypt VA CI module and an unlocked smartcard, the TechniStar S1 can easily receive Viaccess-encrypted programs. This property feature makes the receiver ideal for use in France, too. Using an off-the-shelf USB hard drive, the receiver can be turned instantly into a digital video recorder (DVR). Digital TV and radio programs can then be conveniently recorded and played back. The TechniStar S1 supports timeshifted television viewing, in which ongoing programmes can be stopped at any point and continued later — even in high-resolution HDTV.
The HDTV-capable satellite receiver is easy and convenient to operate. AutoInstall guides the viewer through the most important settings for first use, step by step. Different display options make navigation to programme data sent by transmitters as well as programming of timer events child's play. The TechniStar S1 is a powerful multimedia centre with outstanding operating comfort. From connected USB sticks or external hard drives, numerous digital media formats can be played back. This includes both digital pictures and music as well as a whole range of common video formats.
