The Egyptian satellite operator, Nilesat, has selected GMV's real-time satellite monitoring and control product, hifly, to control the new Nilesat -201 satellite. Additionally, GMV's flight dynamics product, focusGEO, will perform the flight dynamics operations.
The satellite will be manufactured by Thales Alenia Space (TAS) and is based on the Spacebus 4000B2 platform, fully supported by GMV products. The procurement includes the provision of a main Control Center to be located in Cairo and a back-up Control Center in Alexandria, Va. TAS is the prime contractor in this program for Nilesat, for the procurement of the satellite and the ground segment ,while GMV, under contract to TAS, will be responsible for the provision of the Satellite Control Center (SCC), including on-site deployment, integration and testing activities, as well as training to Nilesat engineers and operators for the supplied system. The SCC system will also integrate optional components such as autofly to automate the satellite and ground station operations and archiva for long-term archiving and fast access to satellite telemetry from hifly clients.
