[SatNews] Micro-Coax has released its new MCJ185A Space Flight Cable Assemblies, the only Ka-band space flight assembly optimally sized to offer the best possible insertion loss to 32GHz.
MCJ185A cable assemblies use a 0.185-inch diameter ultra-low loss cable with lightweight ARACON® braid and a black Tefzel® jacket. This cable is mated to specially designed SMK connectors available in straight and right-angle configurations. The MCJ185A cable assembles are designed for Ka-band space flight applications aboard satellites as RF/Microwave interconnects, making them a good fit for the commercial and defense space market. Specifications include:
- A full space flight qualification (and use on several current space flight programs)
- Typical insertion loss at 32GHz of less than 3dB for a six-foot assembly
- Typical return losses of greater than 20 dB broadband between 18 and 32 GHz
- SMK connectors typically weighing 2 grams less than competing connectors
Micro-Coax has supplied high reliability products for space-grade applications for more than three decades and has an extensive track record in providing microwave transmission line products for the most demanding spaceflight technical challenges. Micro-Coax products are proven highly reliable, as extensive acceptance testing exceeds industry standards from the connector and cable component level through to the final delivered product. And Micro-Coax offers cable constructions built with ARACON®, so ultra-light cable constructions can weigh up to 35 percent less than conventional assemblies with no sacrifice in electrical or mechanical performance.
