The Synapse TV joint venture is powered by Simplestream’s Media Manager and Catchup TV technology, as well as MHEG applications, security and mediator components from S&T, providing a fully-integrated,one-stop solutionfor multi-screen delivery.

Synapse TV OTT channels are listed alongside OTA channels in the receivers native electronic programme guide (EPG) and so are accessed by a consumer in exactly the same way by the viewer using a standard remote control. All viewer activity can be tracked, which allows content providers a unique insight into exactly what is being watched and by whom.

Premium content delivered OTT can be protected using the industry-standard encryption supported by the Freeview and Freesat platforms, in addition to a range of complementary mechanisms developed by S&T to help ensure that only authorised viewers can access it. Content may be monetized via any combination of advertising, subscription or pay-per-view.
