Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN) has been awarded the Technology Exporter of the Year award at the London Export Awards 2010 organized by the UK Trade & Investment (“UKTI”). Avanti is an international business with technology partners around the world and more than 40 European sales channels.

The Company’s second satellite, HYLAS 2, is being procured from US company Orbital Sciences Corporation and launched by French company Arianespace in 2012. HYLAS 2 will open up new markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The awards are supported by the Mayor of London and sponsored by Barclays Bank. Nominations were open to London-based SMEs registered within any of London's 33 boroughs. UKTI arrange the awards to showcase the positive work that has been done by all the nominees to improve London’s economy and celebrate the phenomenal achievements of these international organisations. This helps to underline the importance of exporting to London businesses, highlighting the Capital’s commercial strengths and encouraging more London based companies to consider international trade as a vehicle for long-term growth and prosperity.
