BBright—Technology Showcase + Product Debuts / Demos @ IBC2014 (Event—Of SatBroadcasting™ Interest—OTT)

[SatNews] During the upcoming IBC 2014 show, BBright will unveil its first SLED-4K real-time HEVC encoder with legacy TS output for Broadcast and IPTV applications and ABR IP streaming for OTT application on booth B39a, which is located in Hall 2 of the French Pavilion.

BBright's SLED-4K HEVC encoder.

The new SLED-4K custom appliance has a 4RU only form-factor and is expected to be the slimmest 60fps encoder on the market. With built-in hardware and software redundancy, the SLED-4K encoder is aimed to trigger the launch of UHD-HEVC field trials or live channels at a more reasonable price than any other existing or emerging encoding propositions.

BBright research and development team implemented a number of in-house and specific parallelization algorithms, allowing live encoding workload, flexibility and scalability to match with early adopters’ custom technical requirements for UHD encoding in HEVC. The SLED-4K encoder is the first concrete product expression of BBright’s prototype concept that was used for IP streaming during the French Tennis Open.

In addition, the UHD-Play play-out server will also make its debut during the Amsterdam show. This carrier-grade test and broadcast appliance (1RU) consists of an uncompressed files or compressed files player with quad 3G-SDI outputs embarking multiple HDD and/or SSD drives for file ingest and playback.
