@ IBC2010... Appear TV (SatBroadcasting™)

Appear TV launched their new DVB-S/S2 modulator at IBC2010, a product that's designed to modulate SD/HD services on to satellite. This high density modulator is able to produce up to 2 DVB-S or DVB-S/2 modulated channels concurrently. This will help operators make more efficient use of their available bandwidth, in some cases by as much as 30 percent. The DVB-S/S2 modulator takes up only one slot in a 1RU chassis, offering satellite broadcasters both a higher rank density and lower power consumption, compared to alternative solutions. In line with Appear TV’s goals, this modulator can be integrated with all available modules — making it possible to combine reception, descrambling, re-scrambling, multiplexing, as well as PSI/SI/PSIP regeneration with the DVB-S/S2 modulator — in a single chassis. Appear TV’s DVB-S2 modulator offers four modulation modes, has a powerful Forward Error Correction (FEC) scheme and is backward compatible with existing DVB-S modules. This enables operators to continue to take advantage of their existing investment in modulation. An optional L-band version of the DVB-S/S2 modulator will be available in a future release. Appear TV is resident at Stand 1.A59 at IBC2010.
