Arabsat—Technology Showcase @ SatCom Africa 2014 (SATCOM)


[SatNews] Arab Satellite Communications Organization is going to be participating in the SatCom Africa Conference & Exhibition, held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from May 20 to 21, 2014.

Eng.Khalid  bin Ahmed Balkhyour, President and CEO of Arabsat, said, "Our participation in SatCom Africa this year comes after Arabsat expansions, including the recently launched 5th generation satellites that are now covering the entire African continent. TV broadcast, telecommunications Internet services are being provided, and Arabsat also broadcasts TV bouquets, some of which are broadcasted over Maghreb countries, while others are broadcast over the entire African continent. This is in addition to the ground satellite stations inside the African continent which connect European and Asian satellite ground stations for Internet services and mobile networking.

"Also, Arabsat has started its 6th generation satellites project, which will provide extra massive satellite capacities covering the whole African continent, complete with a full on orbit back-up. Arabsat is also going to showcase the  Badr-7 satellite and its capabilities, which was designed to offer state-of-art broadcasting technology to combine satellite broadcasting and telecommunications services. Badr-7 is expected to be launched by the end of 2015 and will cover the Middle East and central Asia from the Arabsat exclusive Hot Spot at 26 degrees East.”
