Dish Network... Sort Of Free SatTV For Dish'ers + Their Mobile Devices (SatBroadcasting™)

[SatNews] According to website ipodnn, if you own or use an Apple device, or even an Android, you may soon be able to enjoy SatTV on your device — at no cost!

The ipodnn website indicated their sources have revealed that Dish Network will soon allow subscribers to watch its satellite TV programs on their mobile devices at no cost. The functionality will arrive for the iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and BlackBerry smartphones in September and on Android-powered phones in October. Unless the mobile users have a Dish-compatible, dual-tuner DVR at home, however, they will have to watch whatever channel is set at home. The capability also requires special hardware — and you must have Dish's own DVR with SlingBox features being the other, more costly option. Ahhh, yes, there is also another charge, that being the $10 monthly fee for multiple DVR service — but you will be able to enjoy recording capabilities. This live streaming is the latest step in Dish's efforts to retain customers who are relying on Internet-based TV or Video on Demand (VoD) services from their phone companies. Dish already allows Apple device users to program their DVRs, browse TV shows, and to use them as remote controls, thanks to a free Dish app. There is no information to this effect on the Dish Network website.
