Advantech Wireless—New Terminal Design @ The Global VSAT 2013 Conference (Event—Presentation)

[SatNews] David Gelerman, CEO of Advantech Wireless, talked about Ka-Band HTS Network Configurations—System / Hub / Terminals at the Global VSAT 2013 Conference in Amsterdam.

Mr. Gelerman announced a game-changing terminal design which is set to dramatically improve and simplify the provision of VSAT terminals for use with High Throughput Satellites (HTS). The new terminal features a fully integrated Ka-band transceiver and VSAT modem that is able to receive the entire data capacity of a 500MHz Ka-band satellite transponder, representing more than 1.8Gbps of traffic, and route the content appropriately. The unit requires only a single Ethernet cable to transport both power and data, and has no need for any indoor element, making it incredibly simple to install by commercial and home users. Pricing will also be attractive, with Advantech Wireless making the product available to the market in 2014. News of the innovation was warmly received by the conference audience of industry experts.

Following his presentation, Mr. Gelerman summarized his announcement by saying, “This is yet another example of Advantech Wireless setting the agenda and pace of the satellite communications market, just as we have done in recent years with our launch of GaN (Gallium Nitride) based High Power Amplifiers and dynamic A-SATTM (TDMA/SCPC VSAT) systems”.

VSAT 2013 is the industry’s premier event focussed on VSAT and surrounding topics, attracting more that 300 attendees and 50+ speakers from across the globe.
