From CRIENGLISH.COM, we read that Iran's Air Force commander Brigadier General Hassan Shahsafi announced last Wednesday that Iran has successfully tested a home-made radar-evading unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with bombing capabilities, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

"This airplane is a model drone built on a one-seventh scale for the Defense Ministry," Shahsafi said, adding that the UAV bomber would be produced in virtual size and would join the Iranian Air Force Fleet in the near future. He explained that the UAV has been designed and manufactured for reconnaissance and bombing missions. He made the announcement on the sidelines of a four-day airforce exercise which started on Monday. The maneuver was carried out in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman to preserve and enhance operational and supporting capability, according to local IRNA news agency.

In December, Iran's Navy Force launched a maneuver in the Sea of Oman, which was said to be aimed at promoting Iran's armed forces' readiness to confront the possible threat and testing the country's modern defensive weapons. Iran reiterated that it had controlled "all movements of the enemies in the Sea of Oman, Persian Gulf and Hormuz Strait." The United States and Israel have consistently refused to rule out the possibility of military strikes against Iran over its refusal to halt its nuclear program. The United States and its allies have accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of civilian nuclear program.
