CPI Amplifies Their SuperLinear Line With New X-band HPA

CPI Satcom Division announced the latest addition to its SuperLinear® product line: an extremely compact, 500-watt peak power X-band high power amplifier (HPA).

This HPA is fully weatherized and suitable for rugged military satellite communications applications. In comparison to solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs) with similar or lower levels of linear output power, CPI’s 500-watt SuperLinear X-band outdoor amplifier is far more efficient. With this amplifier, not only will customers have a stronger signal and more availability than with typical SSPAs, they will be consuming less power with a lighter box.

“Higher efficiency in an HPA manifests itself positively in so many ways,” said Mike Cascone, Director of Applications Engineering at CPI Satcom Division. “These HPAs run cooler, consume less power and thus have lower UPS requirements. And since heat is the enemy of all electronics, the higher efficiency of these products increases the MTBF. We are excited that our SuperLinear® products have been so well received in the market place, and look forward to the addition of the 500-watt X-band amplifier to this product line.”
