Iran is set to launch its locally manufactured Navid satellite from the 'Safir B1' satellite launcher by the end of March 2012, Mehr news has reported. Navid is [reportedly] a research satellite, which was designed by scientists at the Science and Technology University in Tehran, the report said. The satellite is currently undergoing pre-launch tests. Iran launched Omid, the country's first domestically manufactured satellite into orbit on February 2, 2009.
