[SatNews] This new offering transmits over C-band...
Fortress Technologies, a provider of secure tactical wireless mesh network solutions, has announced the release of their new high performance radio for operation in the 4.4GHz licensed C-band for their portfolio of mesh points. Fortress wireless communications solutions for outdoor environments are designed for government networks and with the new 4.4GHz radio, can now also operate in this band assigned for military, government, and public safety communication networks, ensuring a more secure and interference free mesh infrastructure. The 4.4 GHz band, also known as C-band, is a licensed band dedicated for U.S. and NATO military that offers several advantages. As the band is restricted to military use, it provides an additional level of security and is less crowded than the unlicensed spectrum. Without commercial products creating interference that negatively affect network performance, voice, video, and data communications over the licensed 4.4 GHz band operate more efficiently. In addition, this capability provides a robust 4.4 GHz mesh infrastructure and seamless secure wireless connectivity to the edge.
The new Fortress designed radio is a high power, RF efficient radio equipped with the capability to transmit over the 4.4 GHz military licensed band using OFDM transmission. All of Fortress’ industry leading secure wireless mesh points can be equipped with the 4.4GHz radio option, including the newest ES2440 high performance infrastructure mesh point, the ES520 rapidly deployable mesh point, the ES820 vehicular mesh point, and the ES210 portable tactical mesh point, enabling a broad, highly secure, interference free mesh backhaul infrastructure.
