Charles Bolden astronaut photo (NASA) It could well be that the next NASA administrator will be Major General Charles F. Bolden Jr., himself a former astronaut.

Bolden is the veteran of four space flights, including the first shuttle flight to ISS that included a Russian cosmonaut as a crew member, plus he also has more than 680 hours in Earth orbit. A meeting has been scheduled between President Obama and Bolden this coming Monday morning. If appointed, Bolden will become the first African American to hold the administrator position at NASA. He retired from the U.S.M.C. in 2003 as a major general and he was also elected president of his class at the U.S. Naval Academy.
