Global VSAT Forum (GVF)—Contest Creation For IBC2013 Attendees +Interference Sessions (Event)

[SatNews] The Global VSAT Forum (GVF) will be running a contest on its booth at IBC (6.B05), in the form of an interactive exercise in broadcast uplink (SNG) skills.

Using SatProf’s advanced SNG uplink system simulator, visitors to the booth will be challenged to find the correct satellite using a spectrum analyzer as fast as they can. First prize will be an SNG-2500 spectrum analyzer, kindly donated by Avcom of Virginia. There will also be a second prize of one seat in a full set of GVF online training courses for a choice of either GVF RFI-EUI exam preparation or Advanced Satellite Professional certification. Third prize will be three GVF RFI-EUI exam seats for your organization.

The contest is taken from the new GVF RFI-EUI Advanced Technical Operator Certification Exam, part of the GVF training programme. The programme, which was developed for GVF by SatProf, includes a wide range of courses for fixed, mobile, and marine VSAT and general satcom theory. All use a highly-effective blend of simulator-driven, interactive, self-paced online knowledge training, coupled with verification of hands-on skills and optional supplementary classes. GVF offers certification paths for VSAT, broadband, and maritime satellite terminal technicians, engineers, users, and operators, and now, for organizations, together with new training integration and sponsorship options.

“We continue to receive a great response to our training programs across the globe, which enable satellite professionals to ensure they are properly equipped to operate satellite equipment, thus reducing human error and mitigating issues, such as satellite interference,” commented David Hartshorn, Secretary General, GVF. “This contest will give visitors to our booth a taste of our training courses and help them understand the real-world skills that interference-free uplinking demands.”

GVF is also jointly hosting a number of interference mitigation sessions with IRG:
