[SatNews] CapRock Government Solutions has been named as one of the first government contractors to be added to the new sections of the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule 70 vehicle.

The move provides government customers an additional avenue to access CapRock’s subscription services and leased bandwidth. Two special item numbers (SINs) for commercial satellite communications services were added to the agency’s existing IT contract as part of the Future Commercial Satellite Acquisition (FCSA) vehicle that GSA is managing in partnership with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). CapRock has held a Schedule 70 contract since 1998 but was added as an approved vendor on the new SINs for transponded capacity (SIN 132-54) and subscription services (SIN 132-55). CapRock launched its CommandAccess™ service in December 2009 in anticipation of the GSA’s new subscription services SIN, which allows customers to purchase pre-packaged and pre-engineered fixed or mobile satellite service solutions and any related equipment and terrestrial components. The company took steps to develop network solutions with military-grade features that have grown increasingly important to users within the Department of Defense and Federal Civilian agencies.

CommandAccess and CapRock’s other commercial-off-the-shelf solutions — SeaAccess™ and Disaster Recovery-Series VSAT Services — were designed to include the company’s carrier-class network equipment, redundancy, and diversity features necessary to meet the demanding requirements of military and industrial applications. To support new Schedule 70 SIN orders, CapRock will leverage its network of 3GHz of capacity on 63 satellites and four self-owned and operated teleports in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. CapRock also runs 11 regional support centers and four Network Operations Centers in different parts of the world.
