Comtech EF Data Is Highly Cooperative and SatModems Debut

Comtech EF Data Corporation now has a strategic cooperation agreement with Vados Systems that encompasses the integration of Comtech EF Data’s Vipersat Management System (VMS) product with Vados Systems’ vadEDGE product range. Comtech EF Data’s Vipersat Management System is a feature-rich, automated bandwidth, capacity, and network management system with a high degree of configuration automation that allows network administrators and satellite service providers to easily configure their networks and respond to anomalies. VMS automates the carrier switching and spectrum management processes within the satellite network, which allow SCPC carriers to be switched automatically based on application, load, or schedule, providing on-demand services and unparalleled space segment savings. When combined with Comtech EF Data’s satellite modem technologies, VMS provides dynamic SCPC capacity management. Vados SystemsvadEDGE product range is a well proven platform for voice and data integration and is installed in thousands of sites worldwide, ranging from maritime to finance, defense and emergency services verticals. The interfaces and protocols of Vados Systems’ end user service offering will be integrated with the Vipersat External Switching Protocol (VESP) of Comtech EF Data’s VMS.

Comtech CDM-710G SatModem The Company's new CDM-710G High-Speed Satellite Modem provides transmission of data using the same powerful DVB-S2 techniques developed for video delivery in Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) applications. The modem operates over satellite links with programmable symbol / data rates up to 45 Msps. The modulation types supported include DVB-S2 QPSK, 8-PSK, 16-APSK and 32-APSK. Constant Coding and Modulation (CCM) operation with a single input stream is provided for operation. The unit is available in modulator only, demodulator only, and modem configurations. The terrestrial data interfaces are field-removable to allow swap out of interface types. The data interfaces include the CDI-10-1 with G.703 E3/T3/STS-1, CDI-60 HSSI and CDI-70 Gigabit Ethernet. DVB-S2 offers new opportunities for data transmission applications. With a broad range of modulation and coding formats, it permits the user to tailor a link for the available bandwidth and power to optimize link performance. Whether a link is point-to-point or point-to-multipoint there is a format available to suit each application. The CDM-710G is designed for generic (non-MPEG2 format) data applications.

Comtech CDM-625 satmodem Comtech EF Data has also revealed their CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem, the first modem to combine advanced Forward Error Correction (FEC), such as Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes, with the revolutionary DoubleTalk® Carrier-in-Carrier® bandwidth compression allowing for maximum savings under all conditions. This combo of advanced technologies enables multi-dimensional optimization, allowing satellite communications users to minimize operating expenses (OPEX); maximize throughput without using additional transponder resources; maximize availability (margin) without using additional transponder resources; minimize capital expenses (CAPEX) by allowing a smaller BUC/HPA and/or antenna; or, a combination to meet specific business needs.
