Gimme Shelter — Globecomm Receives New Contract


Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM) has been awarded an infrastructure contract from General Communication Inc. (NASDAQ: GNCMA) a $9 million contract. General Communications is based in Alaska and provides voice, video and data communication services to residential, commercial and government customers. In fact, last year on June 4th, Globecomm received a contract with GCI that was valued at $20.7 million to provide wireless phone services to 200 rural villages throughout Alaska. Pursuant to this new contract, Globecomm will provide 69 shelters to be used in concert with the installation of certain sites under the previously announced contract. Each of the shelters will be outfitted with DC power restoral systems, with 44 of the shelters to be outfitted with C-band satellite subsystems with the remaining 25 shelters being outfitted to support terrestrial communications.
