When You Call "911" It's Nice To Know SDN Global Has Your Backup

SDN Global logo SDN Global has unveiled its answer to emergency management’s backup requirements with PSAT™ (Public Safety Access Terminal) connecting 911 callers to their Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The SDN 911 backup solution supports a complete set of communication services including administrative phone lines, Internet access, and connection to data applications over the same satellite link. PSAT™ can also bridge first responders’ two-way radio systems enabling emergency crews to communicate with one another regardless of technology compatibility or geographical coverage of the radio systems.

In addition to providing an alternative to terrestrial communication services, PSAT™ provides and extended solution with additional call handling capability even when all PSAPs are online. PSAP dispatchers, already familiar with workstation technology, won’t need retraining. PSAT™ supports both ANI (Automatic Number Identification) and ALI (Automatic Location Identification) requirements to ensure 911 workstations can routinely identify callers by telephone number and location, allowing first responders to quickly locate and reach a caller in an emergency situation. PSAT™ is offered in a broad range of packaging and equipment platforms, from turnkey mobile communication command vehicles to upgraded existing vehicles or fixed-site facilities. SDN provides satellite communications links for all packaging options through their existing worldwide broadband satellite networks that support voice, data, and video applications.
